Indiana high court expected to stay business friendly

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indiana Supreme Court is expected to retain its business-friendly reputation despite an overhaul that will see three justices retire in two years.

Gov. Mitch Daniels has appointed replacements for retired Chief Justice Randall Shepard and Justice Theodore Boehm and has another appointment to make when Justice Frank Sullivan retires later this year to teach at Indiana University.

The Indianapolis Business Journal reports the court is expected to remain friendly to businesses because of changes that allow it to hear more civil cases and consistent rulings that have given the court a reputation for pragmatism.

A new chief justice is expected to be named this month.
