IHSAA appoints 2 new assistant commissioners - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

Lawrence Central athletic director Sandra Walter and IHSAA communications director Chris Kaufman have been appointed new assistant commissioners.

The appointments came during Monday's IHSAA meeting. Both will begin their new jobs June 4th.

The 42-year-old Walter has spent the last 10 years as Lawrence Central's athletic director. She'll replace Theresia Wynns, who is leaving the organization to join the National Federation of State High Schools Associations based in Indy.

Kaufman has overseen the IHSAA's marketing efforts with corporate partners, served as an IHSAA spokesperson, helped form the IHSAA Champions Television Network and assisted at all of the IHSAA's championship events. The 45-year-old also spent 16 years as director of marketing and communications at Indianapolis Cathedral.

The IHSAA has not yet announced which sports Walter and Kaufman will oversee.
