SPENCER -

A southern Indiana town has donated one of its police cars to a county that lost some of its patrol cars in March's deadly tornado outbreak.

The Spencer Police Department recently donated a 2007 Dodge Charger police car to Clark County, an Ohio River county that suffered heavy damage in the March 2 tornadoes that killed 13 people across parts of southern Indiana.

The Herald Times reports that patrol cars owned by the Clark County Sheriff's Department were damaged, and some destroyed, when the tornadoes struck and insurance won't cover the costs to repair and replace them all.

Spencer police chief Richard Foutch suggested donating his department's surplus car, valued at $16,000, and the town council in the community about 15 miles northwest of Bloomington unanimously agreed.
