Indianapolis Power and Light says it's restored power to over 17,000 customers after an outage on the west side Wednesday morning.

The largest area affected was in Speedway. Numerous traffic lights were out in and around Speedway.

IPL says the problem started at a northwest side substation.

As of 9:46 am, 10,760 customers were still without power. By 10:30 am, the number was down to about 6,600, and shortly after that, IPL said everyone's power had been restored.
