Ted Nugent to plead guilty to illegally killing black bear

Posted: Updated:
ANCHORAGE -

Ted Nugent's latest battle will be in a courtroom - and is legal, not political. The rock star is to plead guilty today to transporting a black bear he illegally killed.

Nugent won't be in court in Alaska, but will participate by phone.

He has already reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors - saying he illegally shot the bear to death in May, 2009. He had already wounded a bear in a bow hunt - which meant he was over his limit of one bear per season in that area.

Last week, Nugent drew the attention of the Secret Service after he made comments at a rally for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney that appeared to threaten the life of President Barack Obama. Nugent says he didn't threaten anyone. And the Secret Service says the issue's resolved.
