Indiana to stock trout in Fort Wayne's Spy Run Creek

FORT WAYNE -

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says it will stock 400 rainbow trout in Spy Run Creek at Fort Wayne's Franke Park on Friday to mark the 26th anniversary of a program to get youngsters excited about fishing.

DNR's Division of Fish & Wildlife says the creek will remain closed to fishing until 6 a.m. Saturday, when Indiana's stream trout-fishing season opens.

The trout measure about 10 inches long and are grown at DNR's Curtis Creek Trout Rearing Station in LaGrange County.

Trout fishing will be available on a half-mile section of Spy Run Creek.

Adult anglers will need a fishing license and trout stamp. Anglers age 17 and younger do not need a fishing license or trout stamp. The daily catch limit per angler is five trout.
