LAPORTE -

Police say an Illinois man who led officers on a 109-mile chase tossed cash from his car onto an interstate following an Indiana bank robbery.

John Boyd of the LaPorte County (Ind.) Sheriff's Office tells WGN-TV that 32-year-old David Ziesel was arrested at a home in Elburn, Ill., following Friday afternoon's long police chase.

WMAQ-TV reports Ziesel was charged in Kane County, Ill., with felony aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer and a misdemeanor charge of resisting a peace officer. Charges in other jurisdictions are pending.

Police said a LaPorte Savings Bank branch was robbed at gunpoint in LaPorte before the robber fled in a vehicle and got on Interstate 94, ultimately crossing into Illinois.

During that journey, several drivers reported seeing money blowing along the roadway.
