LONDON, ENGLAND -
Our incredible journey through England ends today with one final train ride to the airport and a nine hour flight back home to see my wife and kids.
15 days. Unforgettable images. Stunning scenery. Remarkable history. And over-consumption of fish and chips.
Photographer Steve Rhodes and I believe we have 24 distinctive stories to share with you during our Olympic coverage this summer. Everything from the Beatles to castles, singing cabbies to Harry Potter.
We're taking you to a castle that's on a beach in the morning and surrounded by water in the evening. You've seen pictures of Big Ben but our cameras are going behind the scenes. We'll show you King Henry VIII's bedroom and you'll meet people who get married in English castles. We found an enthusiastic chap who makes calendars showcasing England's white knuckle roundabouts. We'll show you the spectacular scenery of Britain's countryside and the dramatic coastline of southwest England.
You like ghosts? We've got them. In fact, you'll see how one haunted pub tried to capture me as a future ghost. We are ringing 10 ton bells and learning how Brits are reusing those classic red telephone boxes that are slowly disappearing.
We're taking you to the London streets and train stations where the Harry Potter movies were filmed and learning there are fanatics for Sherlock Holmes. Soar with us on the London Eye, descend underground to the oldest wine bar where you drink by candlelight and venture into the Cotswolds where Brits shoot clay pigeons and learn how to make floral arrangements in the same day.
You'll meet the world's tallest town crier, learn the importance of afternoon tea at England's best tea place and learn why it is so challenging to pass the test to become a cabbie in London.
Thanks to Yoko Ono, we are giving you a rare peak inside John Lennon's boyhood home in Liverpool and where the Fab Four got their start in the Cavern Club plus you will see the Brit who creates many of England's pub signs.
Even though our trip is finished, the work is just beginning. Our stories air in 100 days.
