A round of public meetings around Indiana about the state high school basketball tournament began with several people lamenting the loss of the single-class tourney 15 years ago.
About 60 people attended a forum Tuesday night at Fort Wayne's Northrop High School. It was the first of 11 sessions planned through late May with the Indiana High School Athletic Association's commissioner and a state senator who's advocated a return to the old tourney format.
The Journal Gazette reports that Alexandria native Todd Davis talked about the loss of tradition and how significant it was for a smaller school to win their sectional over larger schools.
But Jenny Vogel says the current system allowed her son's Norwell team to have a great experience reaching this year's Class 3A finals.
