Conner Prairie to take cues from video games

FISHERS -

A central Indiana historical park will be undergoing some video game-inspired upgrades.

The Conner Prairie living history museum in Fishers will add remodeled historic structures and new programming and hands-on activities to its 1836 Prairietown.

Visitors will be given guidebooks and work their way through obstacles in a 1830s-style take on a video game. The Indianapolis Star reports they'll be able to take on roles as artists, cooks or even criminals as they try to find supplies and accumulate points and rewards.

A master craftsman will also set up shop there and show off pottery techniques.

Museum president Ellen Rosenthal says no other museum in the country has tried anything like this before. The new programs cost $160,000 and will be unveiled at a reopening weekend June 9-10.
