Tornado-hit district plans for students' return

CLARK COUNTY -

A southern Indiana school district is putting the finishing touches on plans to get about 700 elementary students whose school was damaged by a wave of tornadoes back in the classroom at a temporary site.

Deputy superintendent John Reed of West Clark Community Schools says the only thing that could prevent the kindergarten through 6th-grade students from returning to school Wednesday would be problems with their new bus routes.

The students will finish the school year at a former parochial school in New Albany that's been furnished with donated school supplies.

About 500 middle and high school students whose classrooms were also damaged by the March 2 tornadoes will resume classes April 2 at a site in Scottsburg. All 1,200 students had attended classes at a school complex in Henryville.
