Hoosiers end tourney drought with bid

BLOOMINGTON -

Indiana is back in the NCAA tournament. The fourth-seeded Hoosiers will play 13th-seeded New Mexico State on Thursday in Portland, Ore.

As expected, the Hoosiers were one of 37 teams to receive an at-large bid in the 68-team field that was revealed Sunday by the selection committee.

It's the first time since 2008 that Indiana (25-8), once a tourney regular, has made the postseason. Players and coaches gathered to watch the selection show at the Henke Hall of Champions which is part of the football stadium.

When players saw the pairing, they let out a loud roar and started clapping.

This has been the most memorable season in nearly a decade for an Indiana program that was gutted following an NCAA scandal that was uncovered during the 2008 season.
