Indy Humane Society to help animals in tornado-damaged areas

INDIANAPOLIS -

Along with their human owners, many animals in southern Indiana are now homeless because of last week's tornadoes.

The Humane Society of Indianapolis says it will rescue around 20 animal victims of the March 2 storms in Clark County. Some families have had to surrender pets because they have lost their homes. Other animals are strays.

The Humane Society will pick up the animals on Saturday, March 10.

John Aleshire, CEO of the Humane Society of Indianapolis, says Clark County is running out of room to care for all the animals that need help.

IndyHumane says it doesn't know what condition the animals are in right now. They're asking for donations to help pay for medical care.

Donations can be made through a donation form set up for the animal tornado victims.
