SOUTH BEND -

The College Football Hall of Fame will close its museum in South Bend this year even plans for its new site in Atlanta are being delayed and scaled back.

Hall of Fame executive director Lisa Klunder says closing of the museum in downtown South Bend will likely happen after the end of Notre Dame's football season, although a final date hasn't been set.

Klunder tells the South Bend Tribune that plans are for the National Football Foundation's board to consider revised plans for the Atlanta museum in April, with a goal to open in 2014.

The Hall of Fame moved to South Bend in 1995. Plans for the move to Atlanta were announced in 2009, when the new hall was to open in the summer of 2012.
