Stimulus is focus of presidential race

WASHINGTON, DC -

The debate over the last stimulus package is three years old, but it is back in the news.

The impact of the $825 million stimulus is the center of an election year debate that's going online.

The Barack Obama campaign site says the stimulus package created 3.7 million jobs in the last two years. It also says the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act cut taxes for 95 percent of working families.

In the Republican National Committee's breakdown, Indianapolis-based EnerDel was used as an example. The RNC says EnerDel received $118 million in stimulus money, but its parent company has since filed for bankruptcy.

The RNC also pointed to $221,000 in stimulus money being used to fund an Indiana University study on condom use.
