BLOOMINGTON -

Southern Indiana police say a 42-year-old man faces child molesting charges after his alleged victim's parents discovered he sent their pre-teen daughter Valentine's Day-themed underwear and love letters.

The Herald-Times reports Bloomington police arrested Everett S. Dawson of Martinsville on two preliminary counts of child molesting Wednesday. He remained Friday at the Monroe County Jail on a $50,000 surety bond.

Lt. Bill Parker said Dawson is friends with the girl's parents and that police determined through interviews with Dawson and the girl that the two had sexual contact last summer and fall.

Parker said the relationship came to light after the girl's parents found that he had delivered their daughter wrapped presents that included Valentine's Day panties and two love letters. They reported the relationship to police Feb. 8.
