MARTINSVILLE -
The Martinsville basketball team plays its first game Friday night with a new coach following the resignation of a longtime coach who was allegedly found undressed in a car with a teenage girl.
Thursday night, the school board accepted Tim Wolf's resignation, which allows him to collect his retirement benefits.
Indianapolis Metro Police arrested Wolf at Eagle Creek Park last weekend after he was spotted in a car with a 17-year-old girl.
Parents are upset, saying the board knew of possible misconduct last spring, but kept Wolf on the job.
"This is not right. I don't care. This is not right. This is like smacking him on the hand and saying okay. This is saying something to the other teachers," said Carol Duncan, Martinsville. "I'd like for him to be fired and his pension taken away from him."
The board voted unanimously to accept Wolf's resignation despite many parents at Thursday night's school board meeting arguing that Wolf should have been fired instead.
Meantime, Indiana State Police say they've launched a criminal investigation of a Martinsville School employee, but they're not saying if Wolf is the center of that investigation.
Wolf coached at Martinsville for 25 years.
Martinsville native Jerry Sichting will take over coaching duties for the basketball team for the rest of the season. Sichting played at Martinsville, Purdue, and for five NBA teams, including the Pacers.
