RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) - The parents of a Richmond baby who died of dehydration have been charged with murder and neglect.
The charges were filed against 21-year-old Amy Hockett and 26-year-old Joseph Pierson Wednesday. They were being held without bond in the Wayne County Jail. It wasn't clear whether the two have an attorney.
A probable cause affidavit says a pathologist found 3-month-old Khaiden Hockett died Feb. 5 of dehydration due to starvation.
His mother told emergency personnel the boy had acid reflux and had vomited after feeding.
Officers found the family's home to be filthy and the autopsy found only three small pieces of what appeared to be formula in the child's stomach.
The Palladium-Item reported Child Protective Services has removed the couple's three other young children.
