INDIANAPOLIS -

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning could need another operation because he has bone spurs in his neck.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that Peyton has had four neck surgeries, not just three.

The report also says Manning will eventually need to have another operation because of the bone spurs.

The Colts owe Manning a $28 million roster bonus by March 8. Re-working Manning's contract - as Colts owner Jim Irsay has indicated he'd like to do - would include foregoing that $28 million option bonus.

Irsay told The Indianapolis Star that the Colts would love to have Manning finish his career in Indianapolis "if he can get healthy and we can look at doing a contract that reflects the uncertainty of the...healing process with the regeneration of the nerve."
