INDIANAPOLIS -
Whitney Houston's talent inspired and touched a lot of people, including actor and comedian Mike Epps. The Indianapolis native co-stars with Houston in the upcoming movie "Sparkle."
Epps was in Indianapolis last month to promote the Super Bowl and Houston's contributions to the entertainment industry and "Sparkle" were a big topic in an interview with Eyewitness News.
"It was amazing. You know, Whitney Houston, just her presence is king/queen, you know," Epps said.
In Hollywood, she's most noted for her performances in "The Bodyguard" and "Waiting to Exhale." But some say Houston's work was not yet finished. She was on the road to making her comeback, starring in "Sparkle," which is expected to be released in August.
In the movie, Houston is joined by American Idol winner Jordan Sparks for the remake of the 1976 Irene Cara film about three talented singers struggling with fame and addiction. In the film, Houston not only stars as the mother, but also worked behind the scenes as executive producer.
Epps had glowing remarks about Houston and his experience working with her.
"It's like you're meeting somebody, you forget about all the great movies that she made, you know, 'Bodyguard,' she's had many, many albums that we could never forget about," Epps said. "Really, really sharp woman who has been through a lot, but she is funny. She is a survivor and when you meet her, that's how you feel."
Houston died Saturday at the age of 48.
