INDIANAPOLIS -

A body was found in a car in a northwest Indianapolis creek Saturday afternoon.

A person walking east on W. 71st Street noticed the silver Honda, apparently inverted, in a creek bed and flagged down an IMPD officer. The officer called for firefighters from Pike Township, who used ladders to get to the vehicle, which was about 20-30 feet below street level.

The firefighters found an unidentified male deceased in the vehicle. The license plate of the car matches that of a vehicle a missing person borrowed from a friend. Police say it appears the car drove straight through a "T" intersection into the water.

Police did not identify the missing person who had borrowed the car.

Foul play is not suspected after a preliminary investigation. The Marion County Coroner's Office will determine the identity of the victim and cause of death after an autopsy Monday morning.
