FORT WAYNE -

A Fort Wayne man could face federal drug charges after police say they found an indoor marijuana farm with more than 300 plants growing in his home.

Forty-six-year-old James E. McClurg was being held without bond in an unrelated charge Friday in the Allen County Jail. A hearing on drug charges hadn't been set.

The Journal Gazette and WANE-TV report that police began a two-week investigation after a county sheriff's officer smelled raw marijuana while serving court papers at McClurg's home on Sandpoint Road.

Police obtained a warrant and Thursday raided the home, where they say they found an indoor hydroponic pot farm with 304 plants worth an estimated $500,000.

McClurg allegedly told police he began growing pot for his own use and began selling it after losing his job.
