BREMEN, GA -

A young girl was able to get away from a man who tried to abduct her this week at a Walmart store in Georgia, and the attempted abduction was caught on camera.

"I was looking at Bratz and princess stuff and fairy stuff," said Brittney Baxter, 7.

Baxter said her toy shopping was rudely interrupted when a man grabbed her, tried to put his hand over her mouth and steal her away. She remembered her stranger danger training.

"Yeah, I was just like trying to do like this and kick as hard as I can," said Brittney, demonstrating how she struggled to get away from the man.

"She said that a man had tried to kidnap her, had picked her up and put his hand over her mouth and she was kicking and screaming. He dropped her and then ran out," said Georgeann Baxter, Brittney's mother.

"Its chilling to know how quick something can happen. It actually sent chills up when I saw that," said Chief Keith Pesnell, Bremen Police Dept., Georgia.

Bremen Police wasted no time in looking at Walmart's video, which not only captured the suspect but also his getaway car, which was pulled over later in Tallapoosa. Twenty-five-year-old Thomas Woods, a recently released state inmate, matched the video, but denied being in Walmart.

"I didn't bother nobody. I was never there," he said.

Woods was charged with attempted kidnapping. Brittney's parents are happy she remembered that stranger danger training.

"If this can help save another kid, then that would help save somebody else," said Georgeann Baxter. "You try to get away and go tell somebody that you trust."

Police say the suspect was out on parole after being convicted of voluntary manslaughter.
