INDIANAPOLIS -
Snow moved in to central Indiana Friday. After last week's mild temperatures, it was a reminder that winter is not over.
Look for 1"-2" of snow to fall Friday afternoon and evening in most of central Indiana with isolated spots in northern counties seeing up to 3 inches.
"This is sort of what you expect in February," said driver Jessica Allen.
Allen said she hopes other drivers will stay alert for slick spots.
"Some do, some don't. You have to have a little more caution. You have to be prepared for it," she said.
Drivers for the Department of Public Works spent Friday afternoon salting the roads for the evening commute. The city also prepared downtown sidewalks by spreading salt.
Since the forecast calls for a limited amount of snow, you won't see any plows hitting the ground, but the close-to-freezing temperatures could produce slick roads and highways.
"We will focus on the primary streets throughout Indianapolis as the snow continues to fall and even in the overnight hours," said Kara Brooks, DPW.
"If they just take their time, it would be alright. [If you're] leaving out in a hurry, you are bound to have an accident," said David Neblett.
In our southern counties, look for a rain/snow mix with about a half inch of snow possible in Bloomington and Columbus.
It's a far cry from a week ago, when temperatures reached 60 degrees on February 1.
