There were a few tense moments for an Indianapolis mother Thursday when she found her car was missing from a northwest side shopping center - with her 7-year-old son inside.
Police received a call from the woman at 10:00 p.m. Thursday. She told dispatchers that her Mitsubishi Gallant had been stolen from 2802 Lafayette Rd. while she was inside a business, and that her son was inside the car.
Police searched the area until it was determined a short time later that the car had actually been towed from the shopping center because it was illegally parked.
The wrecker returned with the car - and the child - a few minutes later.
It's unclear whether the woman or the tow truck driver face charges. Both were being detained by police shortly after the incident.
Asked why the child had been left in the car, the woman had no response.
