Indiana conservation officers are seeking information from the public in the recent shooting of a bald eagle in central Indiana's Morgan County.

Officers says a local resident found the eagle on private property near the town of Eminence on Feb. 1. Eminence is about 30 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

Anyone with information can call (800)-TIP-IDNR or see this site. Information that leads to an arrest can bring a cash reward.

The national bird is protected by the federal Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Violations can result in a fine of up to $250,000 and up to 2 years of imprisonment.
