Police say a driver headed northbound on I-465 on the Indianapolis northeast side drove off the interstate and struck an office building.

Indiana State Police say it happened during morning rush hour at around 8:15 am.

According to police, Marty L. Thomas, 37, of Indianapolis, was driving a 2007 Ford F-150 truck just south of the I-69 exit ramp when he says he lost consciousness and drove down the embankment.

His truck drove over a fence, into a business parking lot and finally into an office building at 7222 North Shadeland Ave.

The portion of the building that was struck was unused and unoccupied. No other vehicles were involved.

Thomas was taken to Community North Hospital for observation. Police did not provide details about his injuries, but they are not believed to be serious.
