Metro Police arrested an 18-year-old man early Wednesday morning following a SWAT situation on Euclid just south of 21st Street.

Zachary Pipes, 18, was arrested.

Officers responded shortly after 3:00 a.m. on a report of a person with a gun. Before police arrived, the suspect retreated to his residence and, according to IMPD Sgt. Linda Jackson, refused police requests to exit his home.

The SWAT team then deployed tear gas. A woman inside the residence came out and told police that Zachary Pipes was still inside.

The SWAT team, after continuing to order Pipes to come out of the residence multiple times, had to enter the residence and take Zachary Pipes into custody.

Pipes was then arrested for intimidation and resisting law enforcement and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center.

Police shut down 21st Street between Linwood and Sherman while they dealt with the situation.
