Super Bowl Host Committee calls events a "grand slam"

INDIANAPOLIS -

The Super Bowl Host Committee held a post-game briefing Monday morning, and they're calling this year's game and all the events leading up to it a huge success.

Allison Melangton, president and CEO of the committee, called Super Bowl XLVI "a grand slam. We had great crowds and happy crowds."

Crowd estimates of attendance at Super Bowl Village are estimated at 150,000 Sunday and more than a million over the last ten days.

The NFL Experience drew 265,000 - 30 percent more than any other one. Additionally, more than 10,000 people did the zipline.

"We are thrilled," said Susan Baughman with the host committee.

Mark Miles, chairman of the host committee, attributed the success to the "we" effort and "teamwork."

More than 20,000 people are credited with helping to prepare and put on the Super Bowl.

Other notes: The Roman numerals on Monument Circle will be dismantled Tuesday. The huge Lombardi trophy mural on the JW Marriott will be removed next week.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
