INDIANAPOLIS -
Super Bowl fans shouted, posed for pictures and traded high fives as they headed into Lucas Oil Stadium. For them, there was no better place to be Sunday than Indianapolis.
Michael Brennan, a Giants fan explained, "My kids have been so excited. All week it's been 'you are the best, you are the man!'"
Fans from across the country filled Lucas Oil Stadium with excitement. Elliot Burr, a teenage Patriots fan, exclaimed, "The atmosphere is electric in here!"
Attending Super Bowl XLVI was nothing less than a dream of a lifetime, gushed Patriots fan Christy Adams.
"This is amazing. Chuck one off the bucket list for this baby!" she shouted.
Why wouldn't it be? Big cities, big egos and big scores all to settle under the same big roof.
"This is the most magnificent building I've ever been in. Indianapolis has done a great job," said Bob Burr, a Patriots fan.
Colts fans
Sure, this was a battle between New York and New England, but a lot of Indianapolis fans said they had a lot at stake in this game.
Katie DeLong, an Indianapolis Colts fan, shouted, "We're in heaven!"
Friends LaDonna Sweitzer and Katie DeLong, wearing Colts jerseys, were giddy over Indianapolis' Super Bowl performance.
"We are so proud of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Colts. It's been an incredible month of being a citizen of the City of Indianapolis," said DeLong.
Though they were greatly outnumbered, Colts fans also came to Lucas Oil Stadium to see the city host its first ever super bowl.
"I feel like I'm in a different place. This is amazing!" said Cathy Mills, Noblesville.
Her husband Bryan agreed, "I'm so proud of Indianapolis and think other people now realize how special a place this is."
Gloria and Glen Olvey said attending the game was the dream of a lifetime. They won two tickets Saturday from the Southport Meijer.
"Being from Indianapolis and loving the Colts, it's amazing to see what they've done with the city," said Gloria.
"This is unreal with as many games as I've been to, this is something else. It's absolutely electric," Glen said.
Amber Riggs of Shelbyville also scored free tickets at the last minute.
"Obviously it would be better if the Colts were in it but it's awesome to have this in your hometown and to get to go is really special," said Amber.
It ended with an incredible game that had fans on their feet until the last second of the final play.
