One of the Super Bowl teams made a point to try the local cuisine before Sunday's game.
Bub's Burgers in Carmel, famous for their "Big Ugly" hamburger, was contacted by the Giants organization and asked to cook for the team.
You might remember about two years ago, the restaurant along the Monon Trial in Old Town Carmel was featured on the TV series "Man versus Food."
Apparently, the Giants saw that show. And they knew they wanted to taste the burgers that made Bub's famous once they were coming to town for the Super Bowl.
Bub's owner Matt Fry "got a call out of the blue and said 'hey, we want to have you cook lunch for the guys after practice one day.'"
Fry as was asked if he minded doing it, "The obvious answer is 'no don't mind at all.'"
So Bub's wound up "just cooking what we are good at - burgers, right there on the spot after practice."
Fry says the NFL Films crew in town for the game drove to Carmel to eat at his restaurant.
They, too, heard about Bub's on "Man versus Food."
