INDIANAPOLIS -

Nearly 700 women have donated healthy breast tissue to the nation's only facility to collect, catalog and analyze tissue for breast cancer research.

The women donated their tissue January 28-29 during Indy's Super Cure, sponsored by the Super Bowl Host Committee and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tissue Bank at Indiana University's Simon Cancer Center in downtown Indianapolis.

The IU School of Medicine says the drive had increased participation from minorities. African-Americans represented 36 percent of donors, Hispanics 7 percent and other minorities 3 percent. In past drives, black women represented only 3.5 percent, while Hispanics represented less than 1 percent.

The drive also raised more than $1.5 million for the tissue bank.
