INDIANAPOLIS -
Jimmy Fallon kicked off the first of three shows this week in Indianapolis from the Hilbert Circle Theatre Wednesday night.
Hundreds of fans registered online to get tickets, and not everyone who had reservations was lucky enough to get in due to overbooking. (If you have a reservation, get in line early to avoid disappointment.)
"I've been here in Indianapolis since Saturday, but all the attention has been on the football players, so basically it's like I'm back in high school," he said in his opening monologue Wednesday. The camera angles showed off the historic theater, which Fallon praised in previous interviews.
"It's been great hanging in Indianapolis," he said, as fans in the audience shouted "Jimmy!"
"I promised myself I wouldn't pander to our Indianapolis crowd with a bunch of local references. And I made that promise while hanging out at Larry Bird's house drinking a root beer from Mug N Bun to wash down my shrimp cocktail from St. Elmo's Steakhouse!"
The crowd roared in appreciation.
Fallon hasn't been shy around town. He has been spotted by many fans in Super Bowl Village - most notably in drag, donning a stylish white down coat, faux fur hat and long-haired wig.
He is also putting on a live show the night of the Super Bowl.
