HENRY COUNTY -
State police say they discovered cocaine worth nearly $4 million during a routine semi-truck inspection on Tuesday.
In a release, police say a trooper assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division was patrolling Interstate 70 in Henry County when he stopped a 2007 Freightliner for a routine DOT inspection. The trooper said he became suspicious after speaking with two occupants of the truck.
After the driver gave consent to search the tractor and refrigerated trailer, troopers found 20 kilos of cocaine in brick form wrapped in duct tape in the cab of the truck. A search of the trailer yielded 17 more one-kilo bricks.
Investigators say the cocaine has a street value of just under $4 million dollars.
The trailer was loaded with lettuce and had originated in California and was bound for New Jersey.
Police arrested the driver, Mosies Delgado, 26, of Florida and passenger Rene Rocha, 52, of California. Both were charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver, Class A Felony, and Possession of Cocaine, Class A Felony. Bond was set at $69,000 for each man.
