INDIANAPOLIS -

Chuck Pagano faces a big challenge in his first head coaching job. He still can't wait to get started.

The Indianapolis Colts formally introduced Pagano on Thursday. The replacement for Jim Caldwell spent last season as Baltimore's defensive coordinator.

Pagano called the Ravens' loss to the Patriots the "most devastating loss that I've ever been a part of."

"We all know how hard it is to get to that stage," he said. "Now here I am at an all time high."

Pagano is walking into a bundle of questions. Fans want to know whether Indy will use the No. 1 draft pick on Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, what the future holds for four-time league MVP Peyton Manning and whether the Colts are going to overhaul their defense.

Team owner Jim Irsay expects Pagano to improve Indy's defense and win more than two games in 2012.

Pagano said his goal is to get to know his team.

"First and foremost I want to get to know these players," he said. "We're gonna build this on trust and relationships and commitment and dedication and we all understand what the expecataions are I understand what I just signed up for."
