Chuck PaganoThe Indianapolis Colts have hired Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano as their new head coach.
The 51-year-old Pagano replaces Jim Caldwell, who was fired after the Colts' 2-14 season in which quarterback Peyton Manning never played a single down as he recovered from neck surgery.
Pagano spent three years as the Ravens' secondary coach before being named defensive coordinator in January 2011. He also spent two years as defensive backs coach in Oakland (2005-06) and four years with Cleveland (2001-04), in addition to college jobs at Miami and North Carolina among others. He began his career in 1984 as a graduate assistant at Southern California.
Eyewitness Sports reporter Rich Nye says Chuck Pagano's brother John is a Chargers linebackers coach and former Colts assistant. Follow Rich on Twitter.
The Colts will hold a news conference Thursday to make the official announcement.
