INDIANAPOLIS -

Metro police say a woman was struck and killed in a south side traffic crash Wednesday evening.

Officers were called to the intersection of S. Madison Ave. and E. County Line Rd. at about 6:45 p.m. on a report of a person struck. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive female suffering from massive trauma.  EMS personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Investigators say the identity of the victim is unknown and will be confirmed by the Marion County Coroner's Office.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and is cooperating with investigators, according to police.  At this time, officers do not believe that alcohol is a factor.
