JAY COUNTY -
A Portland man was killed in a crash Saturday night in southern Jay County.
Police say 36-year-old Michael Limbert was driving south on CR 250 West when his vehicle was struck head-on by a pick-up truck driven by David Oxley, also of Portland. Oxley was attempting to pass another pick-up truck, driven by 21-year old Jordan Hess of Fort Recovery, Ohio when he struck Limbert's car as it crested a hill.
Limbert was killed in the crash.
After the crash with Limbert's vehicle, police say Oxley's truck then struck Hess' truck, causing it to roll over in the roadway and into a field, where it rolled twice more before coming to rest on its wheels. Three passengers in Hess' truck suffered fractures and abrasions in the crash, including 19-year-old Nicole Bertke of Maria Stein, Ohio, 22-year-old Tyler Bruggeman of St. Henry, Ohio and 18-year-old Lauren Bruns of Celina, Ohio. All were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Hess was ejected from the pick-up and suffered fractures and an injury to his back, while Oxley suffered injuries to his legs.
