Colts owner Jim Irsay announced the firings Monday afternoon. The Colts shake-up and news of the Polians firing caught some fans by surprise.
One of the first signs Bill Polian was no longer with the Colts Monday, the weekly "Bill Polian Show" had a new name.
"In the final analysis, this is what I felt best for the franchise," said Colts owner Jim Irsay.
Irsay said he was looking at the team's future. Colts fans had no shortage of opinions Monday night at local Colts fans' hangouts.
"The NFL's a 'What have you done for me lately?' kind of league and it's kind of obvious, I guess," said David Crumley.
"I think they did the right thing. You got to have a change when its not working," said John Montgomery.
Many said it wasn't the change they were expecting, though.
"I thought it would be Jim Caldwell," said Chip Spaulding, speaking of the Colts head coach.
"I figured the coach would go first and then they'll probably re-evaluate. But I guess Mr. Irsay's going to try something different," Crumley added.
Irsay said Caldwell's future would be decided later, possibly with the help of the team's new general manager.
"Jim Caldwell could very well be back this year that is not out of the realm of possibilities," said Irsay.
For now, though, Colts fans are turning their attention to another matter, Peyton Manning, not to mention what the team is going to do with their number one draft pick. Many believe Stanford Quarterback Andrew Luck could be part of a winning future.
