Bowl travel a breeze for Boilermakers, Broncos

Updated:
DETROIT -

Purdue and Western Michigan should have little trouble attracting fans when they meet in the Dec. 27 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.

The Big Three automakers employ thousands of Purdue engineers and it helped the last time the school played here. The 2007 game pitted the Boilermakers against Central Michigan and drew a record crowd of 60,624 - 15,000 over the game's average attendance.

The Broncos will have about a two-hour drive to the Motor City and should have plenty of fans at Ford Field.

Western Michigan's Jordan White leads the nation in receptions (127) and yards (1,646) in an offense that ranks eighth in passing yards per game. Quarterback Alex Carder was a second-team Mid-American Conference honoree after throwing for 3,434 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Purdue (6-6, 4-4 Big Ten) is led by quarterback Robert Marve.
