Police arrested a former state representative for soliciting an undercover police officer for sex.

Brian Hasler, who served in the Indiana House of Representatives from 1996-2004, arranged to meet the undercover officer at the Omni Hotel in downtown Indianapolis Wednesday. The officer said Hasler contacted him through an Indiana State University email account, where Hasler works as a special assistant to the president, looking to engage in oral and anal sex with the male officer.

After an exchange of emails, Hasler met the officer in the lobby of the hotel and was taken into custody. He carried with him $160, the exact amount agreed upon by the men for the sexual acts.

Hasler, 53, was arrested on a preliminary misdemeanor charge of patronizing a prostitute.
