HENDRICKS COUNTY -

A Hendricks County snow plow driver was injured when a CSX train hit his plow Wednesday morning at County Road 151 West near U.S. 136.

The train was heading west at 45 mph as the plow was crossing the tracks.  The conductor told authorities the plow slowed down, but didn't stop, and was crossing the tracks when the train hit it.

The plow rolled over, and the driver, 65-year-old Richard Layman, was trapped inside.  He was taken by air ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis complaining of leg and arm injuries.

The train crew wasn't hurt.

The crossing has a stop sign and is marked as a railroad crossing but doesn't have crossing gates.
