Racer Tony Stewart's central Indiana hometown will celebrate his winning of a third NASCAR championship as he takes part in the city's Christmas parade.

Columbus officials announced Monday that Stewart would be a guest of honor during its annual Festival of Lights Parade that begins at 6 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 3).

The parade will come 13 days after Stewart captured the NASCAR title with his third win among this year's last four Sprint Cup Series races.

Columbus held a parade in Stewart's honor in 2005 after he won that year's Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Stewart also won NASCAR championships in 2002 and 2005.

The parade begins at 6:00 pm. For more information, contact the Mayor's Office at 376-2500 or click here.
