Notre Dame runs over Navy in 56-14 victory

SOUTH BEND - Jonas Gray ran for three of Notre Dame's seven rushing touchdowns, and Michael Floyd ran for a score and caught another as the Fighting Irish rebounded from a rough week with a 56-14 rout of Navy on Saturday.

The Irish (5-3) finished with 442 yards of total offense. Tommy Rees was 16 of 22 for 237 yards, and his 56-yard scoring pass to Floyd was the longest completion of his career.

The Midshipmen (2-6) were held to a season-low 229 yards of total offense as they lost their sixth straight, and will now have to win out to have any hope of going to a bowl game for a ninth straight year.

It was Notre Dame's second victory over Navy in five years after winning an NCAA-record 43 straight from 1964 to 2006.
