Monrovia HS teacher arrested for rape

INDIANAPOLIS - A Monrovia High School teacher who lives in Indianapolis was arrested on rape charges. The alleged victim is a student.

Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sex Offense Unit arrested 45-year-old Daniel Goens. He faces charges including rape, criminal deviate conduct, criminal confinement, and child seduction.

Investigators spoke with the alleged victim, who told them Goens made unwanted sexual advances towards her and forced her to have sexual intercourse on one occasion. Detectives believe Goens and the victim, who was a student in Goens' class, exchanged numerous inappropriate text messages.

Goens is currently being held at the Marion County Arresting Processing Center awaiting his initial hearing.
