Jillian's auction set for today

Updated:

INDIANAPOLIS - The former Jillian's restaurant will be home to Super Bowl events.

The Restaurant closed this month, and starting at 10 o'clock this morning, you can bid for a chance to own some of its contents. A public auction gets underway later this morning; everything you may remember from the three story gaming nightclub up for bid. Some very unique items, from video games to a bowling alley, to light fixtures, and billiard tables. Anything and everything goes.

Commercial Liquidators is organizing the auction, and auctioneer Ted Pollard says he's getting calls from all over the country. "Now because money is so tight it's so difficult to make--what's driving most of the decisions is how cheap can I buy it? People will come to an auction, buying at auctions to save money and as a result can continue operating," says Pollard.

Pollard tell us a lot of the electric items are attracting businesses as well as private collectors. "A lot of video games are current, the latest software on them. It's a choice of money. What do you want to do spend 20-thousand for a Sega game or buy it here for 5 or 6 thousand. It's a real good way to save money."

The auction, which is open to the public, will work this way: There will be 2 auctions going on at the same time. One will handle all the kitchen, restaurant related items. The other is for the gaming equipment, including 28 flat screen TVs and some pretty cool furniture.

The doors open at 8:15, the auction starts at 10:00

According to Jillian's attorney, the restaurant had hoped to find a way to work it's way out of their financial troubles. They released a statement saying, "Jillian's was a victim of bad timing. A proposed deal with the NFL that might have saved them was discussed for many weeks, but acceptance was delayed by the NFL for so long that Jillian's was forced to file bankruptcy to avoid eviction."

A new pub is going in the bottom floor--no word on what may fill the top 2 floors, and now we know that an events company is taking over the top 2 floors at least for the Super Bowl.
