INDIANAPOLIS - Four vacant structures on the Northside went up in flames overnight. It happened in two separate incidences and investigators are now working on what started the fires. Crews on the scene do say it is suspicious.
IFD Captain Eric Hofmeister says firefighters responded to a report of a house fire in the area of Rader and Roache Streets at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, flames had also spread to two adjacent houses and a business building.
Hofmeister said all of the structures were vacant. No one was injured. Arson investigators were called to the scene.
Another suspicious fire was reported early Wednesday on the northeast side by neighbors. Firefighters were called to 2024 North Dequincy, near 21st and Emerson shortly after 1:00 a.m.
The first units on the scene reported flames coming through the roof of the vacant structure. Crews on the scene say it was about 40 thousand dollars worth of damage.
Neighbors tell us the former residents of that home moved out about a week ago.
Again, no injuries were reported and investigators were called to the scene.
The fires are about 7 miles apart along I-65 and I-70, and would only take about 12 minutes to get between the two locations.
Police are not saying the two incidents are connected.
