MUNCIE - Keith Wenning threw for a career-high 324 yards and tied a career-high with three touchdown passes, leading Ball State past Army 48-21 on Saturday.
Willie Snead had 10 receptions for 180 yards and one touchdown, while Jahwan Edwards rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns for the Cardinals (3-1), who beat Army for the first time in three tries.
Ball State, which defeated Indiana in the opener and Buffalo on Sept. 17, last began a season 3-1 in 1995.
Raymond Maples had 16 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns for the Black Knights (1-3), who were seeking their first back-to-back wins since early last season. Jared Hassin added 17 carries and 111 yards for Army.
Ball State had a 12-play, 80-yard touchdown drive on its opening possession and went on to take a 31-0 lead at the half.
