WTHR Cares: 13 Hours for Project 9/11

Update: As Monday, over $45,000 has been raised for Project 9/11 during the WTHR fundraiser that began last Friday. Thank you to all you donated to this project!

INDIANAPOLIS - WTHR wants you to join with us to make a difference on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Please donate to "WTHR Cares: 13 Hours for Project 9/11". This campaign is raising money for the cost and maintenance of our city's new 9/11 memorial. It is funded by private donations only.

Project 9/11 Indianapolis features steel beams from the World Trade Center and it is the realization of a longtime dream of Indianapolis firefighter Greg Hess. He was a member of Indiana Task Force 1, one of the first FEMA Search and Rescue teams to arrive at Ground Zero after the terrorist attack.

Project organizers are tens of thousands of dollars short of the funds needed for the Memorial, but they are moving ahead to dedicate this new monument on Sunday, September 11th, along the downtown canal.

How to donate

This Friday, September 9th, as part of "WTHR Cares: 13 Hours for Project 9/11", WTHR and WFMS staff, along with Indianapolis firefighters, will be taking your donations for the memorial outside of the Channel 13 studios from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. We are located at 10th and Meridian Streets.

You can also donate at any area Forum Credit Union or online.
