Funeral held for woman killed in fair stage collapse

PARKER CITY - A Ball State University senior who died of injuries she suffered in the collapse of a stage at the Indiana State Fair was remembered for her passion for sports.

The Star Press of Muncie reports funeral services for 22-year-old Jennifer Haskell were held Friday at Monroe County High School gym in Parker City.

Speakers included school and athletics officials who shared memories of Haskell, a former basketball and softball standout who wanted to become an athletic trainer.

Haskell was one of seven people who died of injuries suffered in the Aug. 13 stage collapse. The others killed were 23-year-old Alina Bigjohny of Fort Wayne; 51-year-old Nathan Byrd of Indianapolis; 49-year-old Glenn Goodrich of Indianapolis; 29-year-old Christina Santiago of Chicago; 42-year-old Tammy VanDam of Wanatah; and 24-year-old Meagan Toothman of Cincinnati.
